Benjamin Britten

A Boy was born (OUP version)

This OUP version is from a score dated 1934. The Work, originally written in 1932/3, was probably revised later, and a newer OUP score, from 1958, is slightly different (and is in fact almost identical to the Novello score, also from 1958, mentioned below).

Here is a "clickable" Table of the available Midi Files for this Work.
Note that there are at least two versions of this Work, and that they are not-so-subtly different. The one I keyed in first is the 1934 Oxford University Press one (see the Files below), while the one I "keyed in" second is the Novello one (actually, I "converted" the former into the latter: the difference is mainly in the swapping of a few notes in one Voice with those of another, plus quite a bit of "shortening" by snipping out a few bars here and there; I may have missed a few swaps out, but I hope not!).
Note also that in Section 4: "Jesu, as Thou art our Saviour", the SATBs 1 sing as the semi-chorus):-

A Boy was born (OUP version)
UNemphasized Soprano 1
(or Semi-Chorus)
Soprano 2  Alto 1
(or Semi-Chorus)
 Alto 2  Tenor 1
(or Semi-Chorus)
Tenor 2  Bass 1
(or Semi-Chorus)
 Bass 2
1: A Boy was Born yes As 1 yes As 1 yes As 1 yes As 1
2: Lullay, Jesu yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
3: Herod yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
4: Jesu, as Thou art our Saviour yes As 1 yes As 1 yes As 1 yes As 1
5: The Three Kings yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
6: In the Bleak Mid-Winter yes yes yes yes None None None None

That's the end of the Work.

And if something doesn't work properly, please let me know (see the "Comments" section of my Homepage).
